Port School is fortunate to have a well-equipped workshop. There is a focus on woodworking where we do everything from small introductory pieces right through to a 20 seat staff room table that we have made for the school.
For those with an interest in things mechanical, we have just completed a refurbishment of two scooters transforming them from virtual wrecks through to roadworthy vehicles. Students have assessed, diagnosed and repaired the braking, electrical and motor systems.
The current project is a motorised go-kart that the students are refurbishing and modifying in preparation eventually for a mini-motor gymkhana.
The workshop also offers some electronics and leatherwork. It caters for all students, from those that have an interest and no experience right through to those who may undertake a school-based traineeship or apprenticeship.
